Washburn won the race in 22.64 seconds. Daily Courier Carson Washburn felt the pressure. He entered the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state swim championships as the favorite in the 50-yard freestyle. The structure, which has a distinctive curved roof, was built in the mid-1950s. The new siding was milled with lumber salvaged from the 2018 Taylor Creek Fire. By Shaun Hall of the Daily Courier Workers have begun installing distinctive wood siding to the side of the huge indoor arena at the Josephine County Fairgrounds. The siding was cut from timber that burned on county-owned land in the 2018 Taylor Creek Fire. "Slow but sure," said Aaron Pate, of Lucas Main Construction. "It's an old building." The building, which is used for horse riding and various events, was built in two sections in 1953 and 1955, with the help of volunteers. Entrants received points for each correct pick they made in the tournament. Bransfield, who works at Rogue Community College, scored 450 out of a possible 600 points to beat out 311 other Pick ’N’ Roll contestants. Jerry Snodgrass of Grants Pass, who also picked Virginia to win the crown, finished second with 440 points.
